| CREW PROFILES | | | Captain: David Peterson | Nationality: American | | Number of Crew: 2 | | Crew Profiles: David, born and raised on the Oregon coast, has been connected to the ocean his entire life. His family spent all recreation time on the water. From salmon fishing in the Pacific, sturgeon fishing on rivers and water sports on lakes; he has been behind the wheel of many a watercraft from a young age.
During university a fluke of luck sent him for a year to the University of the Virgin Islands St. Croix, where he fell in love with warm waters and life outside civilization. After graduating he moved to St. Thomas where he became a parasailor and started his diving career.
Two years later an opportunity to deliver a 36’ monohull from Maui to Washington arose. Soon after the month long delivery he found himself surfing the waves and enjoying the Aloha back on Maui. Having never seen lava he traded Maui for the Island of Fire (big island) and kept himself busy as a manta ray dive master by night, and lava tour guide by day. In this romantic setting he met Thryn Shoup and swept her away on his adventures.
One winter while kayaking with the humpback whales he decided it would be great to see them in their feeding grounds of Alaska. Three months later he and Thryn made their way to Alaska where David operated a sport fishing boat. There he fished for salmon and halibut side by side with the majestic humpbacks. But as the fishing season came to an end the humpbacks left for warmer water so did David and Thryn.
Ending up on sunny St. John they found themselves running dive trips for a busy resort and behind the wheel of a classic wooden trawler cruising St. John and the BVI’s. While in Tortola looking to purchase a monohull he was offered 1st mate on a mega catamaran and so he spent the next year chartering the BVI’s and the entire Caribbean from St. Croix to Grenada.
Missing a home port, David set his hook on the east end of St. Thomas and took the reigns of Chateau, allowing him to create the charter of a lifetime for his guests. With his extensive knowledge of the Virgin Islands David can create the perfect charter tailored to you. From snorkeling remote reefs to white sandy beaches all to yourself, David on Chateau will create the charter vacation you will reminisce about for years to come.
